Atom Collapse Lab

Atom Collapse Lab

Adi's crash-screen atom, re-simulated live with the same physics engine (planck 1.4.2) and the same scene values as generate-collapsed-atom-collapse.mjs. Flip directions with the picker, drag the sliders, and slow it down.

What to look for
  • Ghost trail spacing is the easing. Ghosts bunched together mean slow, spread out means fast. Free fall should start bunched and spread out (ease-in). A hop back should be widest in the middle.
  • Causes. In Current, both top blocks float with gravity off and then get a sideways push from nothing. Watch for anything moving without something making it move.
  • The hop's peak. In Current, sideways motion eases out but the arc uses linear time, so each block reaches the top of its hop after it has covered most of the distance. The curve in the graph leans to one side.
